Department Mission statement
As Arabic teachers, we want to give our students an understanding of Arabic in a variety of contexts. We want to provide them with the knowledge of Arabic vocabulary and structures. We aim to develop their language learning skills. We aim to develop their ability to communicate effectively in Arabic. We want to develop their awareness and understanding of countries and communities where Arabic is spoken.
In the Quran, it says, “and say, “My Lord, increase me in knowledge.” (Surat Taha 20:114)

All candidates will be required to demonstrate ability to:
- Listen – Understand and respond to the spoken language
- Read – Understand and respond to written language
- Write – Communicate in writing
- Speak – Communicate in speaking
